A PhD research studentship covering stipend and tuition fee costs is offered within the Music, Technology and Innovation Research Centre (MTI-RC), working with an internationally recognised research team that is known for its artistic work within the field of sonic arts/electroacoustic music composition and related field of scholarship, electroacoustic music studies. It is available to suitably qualified UK or EU students.
The PhD project will focus on scholarly research and artistic production based on the combination of music and technology. Applicants will be accepted in areas of interest reflecting areas of expertise of the MTI-RC staff (see www.mti.dmu.ac.uk) including, but not limited to: compositional and performance approaches to electroacoustic music, including audio-visual, public art/alternative spaces, installation art and interactivity-related (e.g., performance interfaces) applications; and scholarly work related to electroacoustic music studies, such as analysis, socio-cultural aspects and signification issues. Furthermore, given our large-scale collaboration with DMU’s Centre for Enhanced Learning through Technology (CELT) and Educational studies subject area, proposals related to electroacoustic music and access would also be welcome.
