LivecoderA Community Report will be presented at the International Conference on Live Coding (ICLC) in Utrecht, Netherlands on Friday, April 21st, 2023 at 11:15 am (CEST (UTC+2)).

Abstract
In March of 2022, LivecoderA, a new live coding community came into being, coalescing around the need to recognize a specific cohort of live coders who identify as women. The group is inherently feminist and intersectional, and its creation was motivated by many desires. Among them: solidarity and visibility, to be counted as sisters, and to reflect to each other the strength of our numbers. A manifesto and several events have since been produced, and the community is active online while also making more in-person connections whenever possible through the coordination of gigs, residencies and meetups. At the time of publishing, the community connects through Telegram and Discord, with channels consisting of 48 and 27 members respectively.

Jack Richardson to present at European Association of Music in School Conference in Lithuania

Doctoral research student and lecturer Jack Richardson will be presenting at the European Association of Music in School Conference (EAS) 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania next week.

The conference – organised by the The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre – will explore creativity and innovation in music education, with a special focus on technology-assisted learning.

Jack will present on the inclusion of electroacoustic music under a broader music curriculum, arguing for increases in engagement and accessibility.

Neal Spowage Fashion Film Prize + Recent Presentation at Haptic Narratives, Greenwich University

A radiophonic composition by postgraduate student Neal Spowage titled Dis-comforting has been used as a soundtrack for a fashion video short of the same name by Ania Sadkowska.

This video has just won the first prize POLIMODA & ASVOFF Video Contest For IFFTI2015 (International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institute) annual conference in Florence, Italy which is organised by the international fashion institute, Polimoda: MOMENTING THE MEMENTO.

The film explores older men's experience of fashion and clothing. The result to-date includes a set of themes capturing the richness of the male ageing phenomenon in relation to fashion and clothing, their writer interpretation and corresponding fashion artefacts and films.

Additionally, Neal recently presented his video New Track of Unknown Terra II to Haptic Narratives - Textural Exploration in Film at Greenwich University, UK, on 21st May 2015. This series of events focused on exploring and engaging with haptic sensations through tactile cues on film and the environments associated with moving images. It is organised by TiMaDi (Time, Materiality and the Digital Research Group).
